System Leasing

Many of our customers find that from time to time they have a need for additional test equipment for a short period. Perhaps a test has become bigger than had been originally planned, or perhaps a test has had to be set up at short notice. Either way, there may be a need for digital dynamic data technology to enhance the client's existing facilities.

As well as providing sales of dynamic data systems, HGL also offers short-term hire and leasing of its equipment for periods as short as one week or for as long as one year. Usually HGL would expect to be involved in specifying the equipment together with the client, and one of our engineers would be available to assist in the setting up of the hire kit.

Short-term hire

More and more often, clients are turning to HGL to help them meet unexpected issues and short timescales. HGL maintains several sets of equipment in-house specifically for rapid deployment to wherever the customer may need to be. Our portable systems have been in service on land in the UK, the USA, Australia, and offshore in the North Sea and the Caribbean.

The small size of our portable field equipment means that it is now practical for clients to take fully-capable dynamic data systems with them as hand-baggage on a plane. Our Dragonfly unit, for example, fits inside a carrying bag designed for a laptop - with space for the laptop as well.

Longer-term leasing

Sometimes our customers know that they will need access to equipment for extended periods of acquisition and/or testing, for which purchasing a system might seem the sensible route. Over the years, HGL has found that it is often helpful to offer a leasing service as an alternative to following the capital purchase route. Leasing may help to avoid certain delays in the procurement process, and it may also fit in better with the customer's own billing model.

Several of our clients have benefited from long-term leases of systems, from small portable units all the way up to rack-mounted test cell systems. Our Dragonfly acquisition system, housed in a suitably weather-proof enclosure, has been successfully used for offshore data acquisition. These systems, often situated on unmanned platforms in the North Sea, run continuously acquiring low-rate data for up to 30 days at a time. At the other extreme, one of our clients was so impressed with the performance of their 128-channel digital acquisition and analysis system that part-way through the lease, the system was purchased outright. This gave the client the benefit of flexibility at the start of the test and reduced cost of ownership in the longer term.
