448-channel mobile system delivered to France

HGL Dynamics has developed and delivered a 448-channel mobile dynamic acquisition and monitoring system for a customer in Northern France. The system consists of 32-channel Eagle acquisition unit, each of which streams all digitised data in real time to a Hawk processing and recording unit.

All channels have fully programmable dynamic signal conditioning, with support for all sensor types used in aerospace propulsion testing.

All channels are fully synchronised, with simultaneous sampling between each channel.

Connected to HGL's Hercules data management system via Gigabit Ethernet, the system is capable of capturing data continuously at up to 256 kHz per channel, at 24-bit resolution, almost indefinitely.

The new Eagle units produced for this system are described as mobile, because for the first time they incorporate internal full signal conditioning technology, which in previous systems has been in external 4U 19" rack units (2 external units per Eagle). This represents a tremendous reduction in size and weight of the acquisition equipment. This reduction in size has only been possible by updating the Eagle product to exploit HGL's Dragonfly technology internally.

As with previous systems delivered in earlier years, the system provides multiple real-time monitoring screens so that the engineers and analysts can study the behaviour of their equipment under test as it happens.
